We strive to become a vibrant church that focuses on developing, maintaining and propagating the essential elements of parish life through evangelization, worship, service and stewardship.
The vision of the Catholic Community of Saint James is to encourage and achieve full participation of all members of the church in various ministries including those for spiritual formation and education, evangelization, social concerns and family life. This is accomplished by embracing the Gospel's strong spiritual values through worship, prayer and outreach. Through the commitment of clergy, staff and parishioners, we are involved in diverse ministries which aim to unite people of all ages and cultures including both individuals and families. We extend Christ's compassionate concern to the poor and all people of our local community.
Little is known of Saint James the Less, our parish patron.
James was the son of Alphaeus and is named in all four lists of Apostles in the New Testament. He is mentioned as one of the Apostles Christ appeared to before His Ascension. James was one of the leaders of the Church in Jerusalem, along with Peter, Paul and John. After a life dedicated to the teachings of Christ, James became a martyr. The Pharisees ordered him to disclaim Christ. When James refused, he was thrown from the pinnacle of the temple and stoned to death.
Saint James the Less Feast Day is May 3.
Father, we thank you for having called
the Apostle James to be our parish patron.
We ask you to hear him when he
intercedes for us and for the Church.
Give us the strength and grace to follow his
example of faith action and good works.
Teach us to imitate his dedication to your Son,
and to imitate his proclaiming that
Jesus is indeed Lord, the Messiah.
We ask you this in the name of Jesus,
Your Son, and Your Holy Spirit. Amen.
